Formation of the Boston Chapter of The Data Warehousing Institute

4/26/2007

The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) is pleased to announce the formation of the Boston Chapter of the TDWI.

Founding members, Ronald Wilkinson, Rick Sherman, Dan Richards, Gary Bernstein and Mannie Goldberg held the first meeting on April 26, 2007.  This meeting contained discussions concerning the formation of the new Chapter and featured an informative presentation from Wayne W. Eckerson, director of research and services for TDWI:

BI Maturity Model: Taking Your Data Warehouse to the Next Level

The big question we hear today from DW practitioners is: "How do we take our data warehouse to the next level?" or "How do we make the DW more strategic to the organization?" Knowing what path to take requires understanding where you are today and how you got there. This session will present a maturity model that captures the typical stages of DW and analytical growth, starting with spreadmarts and operational reporting, to a continuous integration and stewardship environment that provides all stakeholders appropriate levels of insight based on enterprise-wide information and analytical resources.

You Will Learn:

  • The value of a maturity model for selling data warehousing projects
  • The six stages of data warehousing and analytical maturity
  • How the "Gulf" and "Chasm" are key stumbling blocks to DW advancement
  • The future state of data warehousing and analytics
